                                            Country of Origin

What do you know about Henry Hudson?  Henry was an English explorer and navigator. He lived in England as he was growing up as a kid. After making an agrement with the queen he started sailing in 1608 to 1611.Henry was the captin of his ship. Scientists didn’t know anything about Henry before 1607. Do you know more about Henry Hudson’s country of origin now?

What did Henry Hudson set out to find?

Henry set out to find a waterway from Europe to Asia. He tried to find a route to China, but failed.

Henry also wanted to find an outlet south. He searched for a western outlet from James Bay. Those are the places he set out to find.

What did Henry Hudson ACTCULLY find?

Here are somethings that Henry Hudson actuclly  found.

Henry found what is now New York, The Hudson river, Hudson bay, and Hudson stait.

He also discovered Jan Mayen island, and a shorter route to Asia. He found a island  north of Russia in the Atlantic ocean. Those where some about what Henry Hudson actually found.

How did Henry Hudson change the world’s point of view?

Henry Hudson changed the world’s view and maps in many different ways. Something that changed the worlds map is that when he went to Spitsbergen there where huge ice flows that caused him to return back to England. It changed the worlds map because if other explores went to Spitsbergen they would know to watch out for the huge ice flows. Another thing that changed the maps that there were also whales in Spitsbergen. The reason that would be helpful to know, is because people back then would hunt whales for their blubber which would supply oil for things like ships and other things. Something that would also change the map is that Holland claimed America. So if you looked at one of their maps, you would see America and Holland written together because Holland owned America back then. When a country explores finds land it would become their land.

I hope you learned some more about Henry Hudson!

This is the path that Henry took.
